I have spent over 30 years as a member of a prestigious Canada-wide team, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and being a supportive member of that team is driven into each member during basic training.  Although I have never attended a culinary competition, and thus have limited knowledge of it, I see it as an intense competition where the team works together under stressful conditions to arrive at a positive outcome, not unlike many of the situations that I encountered during my career.  All of the elements used in a competition come from the earth, whether they be plant or animal, the chefs use their imagination to bring them together in a way that is both visually appealing and pleasing to the palate.

I believe culinary competitions are exciting to watch and I find it interesting how proper technique forms the basis for success. I am looking forward to seeing how Canada's team sits relative to teams from around the globe. For me it is going to be an exciting experience. One like I have never experienced. In Ojibway culture; the proper preparation of Miijim (food) is important in insuring the health and wellbeing of all who eat. Combinations of ingredients as they come into season maintain the long-term health of the individual. The teachings say; that we lived to see Hailey's comet 3 times in our life if we ate all that came naturally from the earth. Of course, proper preparation is key.

To bring prestige and respect to the Golden Horseshoe Culinary Team and to win the competition and make Golden Horseshoe the best culinary team in Canada. This will give us the opportunity to display our skills, knowledge and experience.  To learn new techniques, which will benefit my life in the culinary field. An international competition is a learning platform for the participants, it is not only the winning that matters it is also learning and sharing knowledge among the competitors.  Asian cuisine has a strong cultural background and consists of unique flavors. By blending these unique flavors along with the cultural features, we always have the opportunity of presenting creative cuisine that will go best with the modern world.

I have many years of experience and knowledge in the culinary world and has represented in National and International competitions. There is always something new to learn every day, hence I'm looking forward to taking part in this competition to represent Golden Horseshoe culinary team.

In 2016 I supported the GHCT and it was a lot of challenging work and fun. Never joined one as a team member, so it is time to do so. Very curious to participate and find my place in the team and looking forward to it. We must treat the earth well and must be kept clean to give us food daily to be prepared. This would be the beginning solution for clean and healthy produce from the farm to the table. Being an all-around talent would be a basic skill. Social competence and knowledge are the next steps to master.

As being a Host Chef in 2017, I am fascinated with the positive stress and real teamwork amongst the Team members. This is the time, to test your real market value, knowledge, professionality and team ability. Making contacts all over the world, checking the competitions level of knowledge, technical As the world gets smaller, ways are shorter, and goods are available all over the world, appearing in fusion cuisine, Chinese or Thai foods and so on, local recipes and traditionally are becoming stronger factors. The recognition value of our childhood food grows and people are on the right way- back to their childhood memories and childhood taste. Simplified organic and tasty meals are the goal, and we are on a good way to reach it.

I joined the culinary team after a few years of helping with fundraisers, meeting different members, and traveling to different kitchens cooking foods that at the time were new to me. I gained interest in competitive cooking when Team member Ron Stevenson whom has trained me for many years, and I work with daily, competed in the culinary Olympics winning a silver medal. As a person I have a natural competitive side and grew more interested in competing myself. I believe given the opportunity to join an experienced culinary team such as Golden Horseshoe will benefit my professional career, as well as the learning opportunity and experience I will gain for a probable future in competitive cooking.

As a Metis person living in Canada food is a huge part of our culture. I do believe an indigenous culinary team should be a part of culinary arts as well as competitions. Having two young children truly is my drive and inspiration for cooking. At work or with a team, any opportunity to better my career and intern my family is a must. I am hoping the experience of the 2018 World Cup will give me a new outlook on food.

Competitions give me a chance to showcase my skills as a chef, promote Golden horseshoe & compete with fellow professionals. It is an essential part of the development of my self; it enables me to perform in an environment that puts me against their peers, which is a great challenge. In competing to be part of Team Golden horseshoe, I found the organization needed was on such a different level. Generally, cooks are pretty organized and efficient, but a competition takes it to a whole other level. It also makes you think about food differently. It pushes you to think more creatively, and ask: Is there a better, more efficient way to do this? And that carries over into the daily routine of my career, Competitions play a role in motivating young chefs like me to perform and excel and offer a lot more reward than just the winning prize. Competitions offer a chance for participants to gain substantial experience, showcase skills, analyses and evaluate outcomes and uncover personal aptitude. Competitions also encourage chefs to adopt innovative techniques and develop their ideas and skills.

Food feeds the soul. To the extent that we all eat food, and we all have souls, food is the single great unifier across cultures Food is important for our nutrition, but it also has important cultural and symbolic meanings that make it more than what is on our plates. Passion! Being a chef is great; you get to be creative, intense, motivated, patient, etc. But you have to love to cook, not like to cook. Being a chef is all I have ever dreamed of since, under future occupation, was to be a chef.as a philosophy I feel like preparing food for customers in nutritive ways is keeping them healthy, that's a great thing that I keen be proud of myself…

I consider it a great privilege to have a chance to participate in a prestigious competition such as this. As a participant, these are the opportunities that we can show our culinary talents to the world. People would know about our country and the place that we hold in culinary world. Unlike local competitions, these are more competitive culinary competitions. We have to compete with the participants with varied talents from different countries. We would be able to study their methods and improve our talents to match them. Culture shapes people's knowledge, tastes and sensibilities. Therefore, if you want to create a good output it has to be curtailed to suit different cultures. Knowing how to adjust accordingly to culture is a talent I am looking forward to improving. About myself as an individual with a unique talent as well as about my country and the talent it holds.

Today, tourism had taken a major stake of international business all over world, taking the lead. Evidently overall people seem to recognize that stress can have an impact on health and wellbeing, hence, people tends to thrive towards methods for relaxation.  Culinary development therefore needs changes as much as possible to attract people with modern designs, tastes, styles with eye catching colors, as often possible. Therefore, the idea behind is to stress chef's towards new developments, by means of competitions held worldwide, allowing them to display new creations.
